Qasr al Watan, meaning ‘Palace of the Nation’, is the presidential palace of the UAE. It is located in Abu Dhabi. It’s an important palace where political meetings often take place. It’s also a very prominent tourist destination.

Why Visit There

  • The palace is an extraordinary example of Arabian craftsmanship and Islamic design. The palace features a façade constructed from granite and limestone.
  • The official meeting place for the UAE Cabinet and the Federal Supreme Council is called Spirit of Collaboration. This is a vast, circular room.
  • The main attraction of the palace is a big dome. The dome spans a diameter of 121 feet.

Best Time To Visit

It’s best to visit the palace when the weather is not too hot. You’ll be able to explore the place comfortably. If you want to enjoy the special light and sound show, you should go in the evening.

How To Get There

  • By Bus: Route 034 and Route 033 are two bus routes that will take you to the palace.
  • By Taxi: You can hire a taxi to go to Qasr al Watan.
  • By Car: You can also go there by car. There are free and paid parking facilities.
  • Shuttle services: Shuttle services are also available.

Tips for visitors

  • Exposing shoulders and knees is prohibited there. So, cover yourself properly.
  • Flip-flops and too casual sandals are not allowed there.
  • They have a photography service of their own. You can wear traditional Arabian dresses and do a photo session around the palace.
  • No outside food and beverages are allowed except for water bottles.
  • The palace authority does not allow pets and animals.
  • Sharp objects, alcohol, paints, aerosols and oversized bags are prohibited.
  • Prayer rooms are available.
  • You’re expected to keep your mobile phone silent.
